Cheerioh!

If jumping into cold water becomes routine, what is jumping into cold water? Sometimes you get used to things so quickly that you only notice the change afterwards. For example, in our tour van: there is only cold water. Washing up, washing your face – everything with cold water. In a hotel, apartment or elsewhere, you’d use warm water as a matter of course and I regularly ask myself: don’t I miss it when I’m out and about? Actually, no. Most of the time. Unless it’s really cold outside. But there’s a diesel heater for that. And heating up the water for more comfort isn’t really a problem either.

The world, ourselves and ultimately everything in the universe is in constant change. Change shapes our lives and even constancy is probably only an acceptable, slow form of change. We adapt, take it as it comes and very quickly forget how it used to be. Memories are deceptive and what does it actually matter when we always live in the here and now?

A kite in the storm

Sometimes playing with ongoing change feels like a competition or a struggle. Things change, push for development and you can hardly keep up while you yourself are constantly driving the process forward. That’s how I feel right now, while two days after the planned publication of this newsletter I have neither the draft nor the planned video ready.

The change around me and within me is becoming a kite in the storm and all I can do is try to keep the reins under control. From the outside, this may seem like a madman in an open field with no goal or direction. Let’s hope that this is just a snapshot.

Whether there is ultimately a direction and a goal is also determined by fixed points and well – there is at least one. On June 21st, 2024, I will be playing a set on the market square in Jena – in front of Del Corazon – for the fête de la musique at 7:30 p.m. Maybe we’ll see each other there?

A new format (once again) is practically in the starting blocks: the “blu-rock-radio-show”. This stands for blu12, Mr. Rockalicious and an auditory format with a theme, music and the cooperation of two opposing and yet very similar stage characters. One creates atmospheric worlds of sound (blu12) and the other rocks in the show duo mitossi with a Fender Telecaster (Mr. Rockalicious).

The Sardinia Sessions

Through countless sessions on the “Endless Sunset Stage” during the Italy/Sardinia tour 2022, a new sound emerged – characterized by reverb and delay effects. This impact is not only essential for blu12, but also for mitossi’s current stage sound.

You could say that blu12 and Mr. Rockalicious are two sides of the same coin. Getting this to spin should be one of the goals of the “blu-rock-radio-show”.

If you want to see the mitossi side of the coin live, you have the opportunity next Sunday (June 16, 2024) to tune in live at 8 p.m. on the mitossi Instagram channel (www.instagram.com/mitossi.official)

When the first “blu-rock-radio-show” will be published on my YouTube channel is still up in the air. However, you can get a first glimpse today on our mitossi Patreon channel. I’ve already talked about Patreon here several times. There are now over 100 posts there about life as an artist, our tours, our tour van and much more. You can currently follow our public posts there for free and get an exclusive ticket for our shared backstage area including all posts for a monthly fee (from €1 – €25). This way you not only support me, but all of our projects including our Crazy Heart Tour.

In any case, it’s worth taking a look, because we recently polished up the entire Patreon profile, internationalized it (English + German), and the best thing is: from now on I’m a permanent fixture again as blu12, namely as the “mitossi Jukebox”. Sound familiar? It’s not new either. It just sometimes takes a while for good ideas to find their right place.

With that in mind – see you at the fête on the 21st, online on Instagram on the 16th, or anytime on Patreon!
