Sea-bound July ’21

Every reason to go to the ocean is a good reason …

July ’21 – first time at the ocean, or at least the sea, for more than half a year. Yes I do plan on keeping the time between as short as possible, but things take time. Unfortunately there were no gigs for blu12 this time, but we were booked as mitossi with kids theater in Zingst. The pirates had their fun and I enjoyed a little time-out at the shore.

I do have a split feeling about the Baltic Sea. I like it, yet it doesn’t feel like the “real” ocean – not close to the Atlantic. I know that might seem a little weird, but the Baltic Sea always just feels like the little brother or sister to the more western shores. For me the best time up there is in fall with less tourists, colorful leaves, a little more wind and maybe also a little bigger waves.

Summer has too many mosquitos in most places, at least for my taste. But for a couple of days it was worth the trip. Yet you can’t expect finding a lot of places to park with a view of the waves. You’re always behind some dune or even further away.

wait for the off-season

My advice would be to either visit Warnemünde or Zinnowitz. The latter has a wonderful promenade plus sea bridge. Though again most places without sea view, the Zinnowitz promenade offer many pretty places and I’ve been walking it so many times – it never gets boring.

So let me know about your favorite sites at the Baltic Sea and stay tuned for more sea-bound adventures!
