Paradise Express Podcast Show – Episode 4
My first thought before uploading the fourth episode of Paradise Express: It didn’t turn out that bad. That’s a good sign.
The podcast enters a new phase. Spurred on by the thought of shocking myself, I dug a little deeper. What should maybe be said. What could give the whole thing the right level. What could take me one step further? Maybe “shock” isn’t quite the right word here. It should probably be more like “jumping over your own shadow”.
The words
Here are the spoken words from the video:
„Does one learn to love the whole world because he misses the love of those from which he needed it the most?
Do we build connections in strange places just because the connections we really yearned for are cold?
Is this digital long distance communication platform the according way to express connection?
Maybe, if „this lonesome day“ turned into lonesome weeks, months and years, maybe than we should accept all means to create connection in a world that is more connected than ever before and yet more lonesome than it has ever been.
Maybe this distant idea of what connection really means is what we should hold on to, even if it’s just to not forget to strive towards the real thing.
I am lonely, in many ways and I may have gotten used to it.
So let’s call this the „lonesome podcast“ – from my stage to your heart.
Do you feel it too? Do you feel alone? Do you miss something in your life, something that could be this: connection?
This may be an existential crisis. This may get worse. So just get on board Paradise Express, ’cause my music’s got plenty of vibrations left to carry you too.“
The song
The original song is called “Dranbleiben” (something like „hang on tight/ ride on“). Originally it is a song with German lyrics. For some time now there has been a longer “second part” with the text passages “it’s one planet, one humanity, we got to get together, right now”. This part greatly expands the context of the song. The protagonist’s lonely and almost hopeless journey “home” to himself becomes a journey into the world, a call to recognize similarities and to come together.
The place
As you can easily see and hear, it was pretty windy again. Luckily the wind came from the sea, so my pedalboard wasn’t in any danger this time. The place itself was somehow appropriate to the topic. A “stone desert” stretched for kilometers to the left and right, which seemed quite dreary overall. In the distance you could see the high cliffs of Normandy. Apart from that there wasn’t much besides the sea and the wind. Just right for a “lonely” podcast in the evening.
