Cheerioh!

Welcome to the sixth edition of my newsletter! Today felt a little like spring for the first time this year. Matching this, you just got some spring-feelings in your mailbox! Without any further big words – let’s dive into my music, Rock’n’Roll and the latest from life as a stage artist without safety net.

All editions of this newsletter and other articles are also available on my blog.

Today: Endless Sunset Stage

The time has come: Yesterday I opened the “handicraft season” for me. Since I currently don’t have the right premises for larger projects, the winter time usually means a break for corresponding work. But even if the temperatures are not really that much fun – it goes on! And I was rewarded with sunshine today. I used this to finally do the first work on the roof of the tour van. With the sun on my neck and the metal comfortably warmed up, I could work wonderfully. But what is all this for?

As already mentioned in other articles, I received a grant from the GVL (society for the exploitation of ancillary copyrights) in November 2021. As part of the “Neustart Kultur” program, funds were made available for the implementation of artistic projects. My idea of a mobile stage on the tour bus was well received and was awarded the contract.

As part of the project, I am in the process of building a mobile stage on the tour bus, which can be used independently with the appropriate technology. Appropriate sound reinforcement technology and battery-operated LED lights will ensure the right atmosphere. A separate on-board network enables both the operation of individual components and charging before and after the performance. The stage itself – a roof rack with a wooden platform provides the right stage, which is clearly visible from all sides.

Unfortunately, the work did not progress as quickly as planned. Due to the sometimes difficult weather conditions and delivery bottlenecks, I had to postpone some things. Nevertheless, the project should be completed by the end of the official funding period at the beginning of March 2022. Accordingly, I used the sun today to install the first fastenings for the stage platform.

The name of the stage: “Endless Sunset Stage” also refers to the music of blu12, as well as the idea of capturing a special moment “endlessly”. You can find out more about the origin of the name in my last blog post: Endless sunset, seconds away …

blu12 perspective

Every month there is my very personal point of view at this point: today the view of the Atlantic on the French west coast. The quote is an excerpt from my song “Tiny worlds”. The first two lines of the song describe many things at once. One perspective is the ability to always be a little amazed at the coming moment, which can be special if you let it, and then try to hold on to it for as long as possible.

blu12 backstage journal

What am I doing all day? What’s new & what does that mean for you?

Since the winter break (not least due to Corona), most of the work has been done in front of the computer: websites, new print media, revision of my book, acquisition, social media, etc. Especially when there are no performances or other projects, you can be tempted to spending a lot of time in front of the screen. After all, there is always something to do. But I don’t like this work at all in the long run. I need movement and variety. Therefore, it is now time to tackle other projects again. The reason for this was, among other things, the goal of completing the mobile stage, also known as the “Endless Sunset Stage”, within the framework of the funding period.

I think it is very important to find a good balance between mental and physical work. Especially since physical work is usually much more fulfilling for me. Often you can see what you have achieved and don’t have the feeling that time is flying by. Especially when working in the fresh air you notice a lot more. On the PC, I regularly have that moment when I look up and wonder: Oh, it’s already dark outside.

In any case, today means a spirit of optimism for me. The weather made me seriously think about spring for the first time and the progress on the tour bus makes me optimistic that everything will be ready on time and that the first performances on the “Endless Sunset Stage” will already be taking place this year.

With this in mind: tackle a new project and look forward to spring with me! We’ll read each other in exactly one month when „6, drugs & rock’n’roll? We rock all 12!“ is back.
