Endless sunset, seconds away – blu12 at a new level

Endless sunset, seconds away …

Almost exactly one year ago, in January 2021, I wrote the lyrics to the song “Tiny Worlds”. At the same time I was finishing the book of the same name. So this song is a bit representative of the current frame of blu12: tiny worlds between the waves of an ocean of inspiration for atmospheric worlds of sound of a musician with 12 strings, voice and blues harp.

Tiny worlds

“Tiny Worlds” was not a reaction to the globally changed circumstances due to the pandemic, but it was definitely a driver of thoughts and ideas. The approaches from the book definitely offer opportunities to deal with the challenges of a changed world and to tackle new challenges that are coming our way.

The essence of what drives the book, as well as the whole idea of blu12, is already in the first two lines of “Tiny Worlds”: “endless sunset, seconds away”. Everything we need here and now is already within us. We just have to start realizing it.

Now, a year after writing “Tiny Worlds”, I had the idea of giving this essence in the form of the first two lines of the text a corresponding function. The idea came to me when I was looking for a visual equivalent of the thought construct around blu12. Among other things, I used an AI that tries to imitate an artistic creative process with the help of corresponding online resources.

What AI can do & what it can’t.

For me, AI art is another tool to be creative. Of course, artificial intelligence in its current form does not replace human artists, since it lacks what gives art its meaning – the intrinsic motivation – and it is also only created by humans in the first place. Either way, AI art is ultimately just a by-product of what artificial intelligence can be an optimal solution for. Still, it’s an interesting tool – in this case, a bit misused in a positive way.

As one of countless results of the AI, I liked this picture the best. Slightly tweaked and combined with the lines of text, it creates a whole new layer for blu12.

However, the final result of this work so far was not just this product, but something completely different: the “Endless Sunset Stage”.

GVL: “Neustart Kultur”

As already mentioned in other blog posts, my newsletter and the Mitossi Radio Show, I am currently implementing a project as part of a GVL grant. In 2021, the GVL (society for the exploitation of ancillary copyrights) awarded grants for the implementation of cultural projects under the title “Neustart Kultur”. There I applied with my project “blu12 mobile stage” – a mobile blu12 stage. The idea was to install a mobile stage on the roof of my tour van to allow live performances in a new setting.

The implementation of this project is already in full swing. So far I have created the technical requirements to independently implement appropriate sound and light. In addition, the technology should also be able to be charged independently or “on the road”. Last but not least, of course, a stage in the form of a platform should also be installed on the tour vehicle. The latter is currently being postponed due to the weather conditions.

“Endless Sunset Stage”

This platform, originally mentioned under the working title “blu12 mobile stage”, will be called “Endless Sunset Stage” in the future. Finally, the name of the mobile stage should also be attached in form of a corresponding sign to the platform. This gives this mobile stage a larger framework, just like the blu12 program itself.

In the coming 2022 season, the “Endless Sunset Stage” will not only be used commercially, but will also be used socio-culturally as part of the Crazy Heart Tour.

If you want to support the project, you can do that as a patron of mitossi (feat. blu12).

The “Endless Sunset Stage” should be completed in early March 2022. So if you don’t want to miss any news and photos, just subscribe to my newsletter!

Cheers and see you soon!
