Guitar update for the new blu12 sound

Finally I have made the decision!

Already some years ago I met another guitarist on stage who suggested me to get a new guitar pickup. A little background on my guitar? Here it comes:

2015 I made a daytrip to the thomann store in Treppendorf. Every musician knows: this is paradise, so come early and stay all day! I had some items I wanted to check out in person, but those things are usually done quite fast. So I spend some time in the guitar hall. Back in 2003, when I started playing guitar, I sometimes played on a 50 year old 12-string from my friend in California who hosted me at the time. At that time I was totally screwed after I tried to tune it. But the sound really got me and stuck in my mind. So here I was, 12 years later, finding the small circle of 12-string guitars at thomann. I tried quite a few including very expensive ones. I never meant to buy one this day, but I couldn’t resist. Little did I know, that just months later, this guitar would become my main guitar for any occasion. Until this day, this guitar follows me almost everywhere I go and led the path to „blu12“.

start small and update as you go

So as you can imagine, the original pickup wasn’t that important to me in the first place. It actually served me quite well for almost six years. But something has changed: my ears. The pickup is still fine for live gigs, expecially party gigs. For recording however, there is no way I would want to continue using it. Almost every planned project has been put on hold so far because of the sound of the pickup.

blu12, ambient acoustic rock, live music, one-man-band, music experience, songwriter, singer, gitarrist, atmospheric sounds, worlds of sound, live musik, events, festivals, ngo, endless sunset stage, paradise express podcast show, rock'n'roll, artist, Künstler, vanlife, von wegen 6 drugs & rock'n'roll - jetzt gibt's auf die 12, we rock all 12, inspiration

So now, even though it exceeds the original price of the guitar, I currently wait for it to be replaced by a new, better pickup. Choosing the right pickup isn’t easy since you can’t just install it and then change it again – or at least that would be quite work-intensive and maybe also destroy the guitar unnecessarily. So I had to inform myself as good as I could and take the advice of professionals.

As you can imagine, I’m really looking forward to testing it out next week and I’m so excited to find out how it sounds with my guitar.

So stay tuned for this will mark the beginning of new recordings for you to enjoy!
